Lucca's First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Lucca's first day of Kindergarten. It is so hard for us to believe that our baby is already in school! She had a GREAT day! Her favorite part of the day was recess and listening to Kevin read Miss Bindergarten Goes to Kindergarten and David Goes to School. She also enjoyed making a necklace out of pasta. She was so excited last night that it was hard for her to fall asleep. She woke up early this morning, ran in our room, and yelled, "Kindergarten! Kindergarten!" Daddy made her a special breakfast of star shaped pancakes. We took pictures outside then headed to school. Chico Unified has eliminated the 20:1 student/teacher ratio in the primary grades, much to our dismay, so Lucca has 29 kids in her class. Way too many, especially packed in a little portable! Her teacher, Kevin, seems great, though! He is a really positive, fun guy. Almost every child had both parents there with them, so take 30 and muliply it by 3 and you get 90 people crammed into the little classroom! It was chaos! Lucca didn't seem to mind, though, and made a new friend named Cassidy right off the bat. She had no problem saying good-bye to us! Surprisingly, I didn't cry either! I think I was too mad about the loss of class size reduction to be emotional!
We decided to surprise Lucca when we picked her up from school by taking her to Chuck E Cheese. She has never been there before and everytime she sees a commercial she gets this longing look on her face and asks me about it. Last week she asked me if it was in another state. She seemed shocked when I told her it was right here in Chico. So we decided that her first day of kindergarten was as good a time as any to expose her to Chuck E Cheese. She was so excited when we got there and had a blast eating pizza, playing games, winning tickets, and picking out a prize at the end. Gabe and I were shocked at how much the place has changed since we were kids.
Later that afternoon, Lita and Lito came over and took Lucca to Baskin Robbins for ice cream! She definitely enjoyed that! Tomorrow she will have ice cream with Grammie! Lucca is certainly enjoying the benfits of starting school! We are so proud of our little princess and can't wait to watch her blossom this year in school!

Wow! What an adorable little Kindergartner! I seriously can't believe our little Lucca is already in Kindergarten! Ok, that is too funny about Chuck E Cheese and her not even knowing it was here in Chico. Love the picture of you and Siena - you look absolutely beautiful and she looks so cute like she is in the middle of talking. :)
