Lucca's 5th Birthday

First of all, I can't even believe that my baby girl is now 5! It seems like only yesterday that she was born and changed our lives forever! She has grown into such a beautiful, intelligent, creative, and thoughtful little girl and I know that her 5th year will be a busy and fun one!
This birthday was a fun one since I didn't have to work so I was able to spend the whole day with Lucca. On Thursday, the say before Lucca's birthday, we went to Gabe's school to visit his kids and I made cupcakes for the kids to enjoy and to celebrate Lucca's birthday. I made them late Wednesday night and Gabe brought them to school with him in the morning so she would be surprised when we got there.

Here is one of the cupcakes... I thought they turned out pretty cute! They are little bears chillin' in the water at the beach! Perfect for summer! :)

On the morning of her birthday, we woke up super early. Lucca popped up and said, "I'm five!" at 5:45. I went to Dutch Bros. and got her a kids strawberry smoothie (one of her new faves) and Gabe made her a hand pancake. Later that morning, Lita came over to watch Siena and Lucca and I walked around the corner to the nail salon where she got her first mani/pedi! It was so cute! Her feet could barely touch the water, but she loved every minute of it and the girl who was doing her nails loved Lucca. Here is a picture of Lucca at the salon and a close up of her nails and toes.

Notice the purple rhinestones on her thumbs.

You can't really see, but she got pink rhinestones on her big toes.

After the nail salon, Lita and Siena walked over and met us at Round Table for the lunch buffet. This is something that Lucca is always asking to go to so she was excited about it! All you can eat pizza on your birthday...what more could a 5-year-old ask for?! Here she is enjoying her pizza...And here is Lita with the girls..

That night, Gabe and I took Lucca out to dinner for her birthday. We told her she could pick the restaurant and she chose the 5th Street Steakhouse! Yay! We escaped Chuck E. Cheese another year! Lucca ordered the kid's steak medium rare with sauteed carrots instead of the french fries that come with it. How many 5-year-olds would pass up french fries for sauteed carrots? The wait staff came out with a special dessert and sang Happy Birthday to Lucca at then end. The people eating all joined in. Lucca was so happy, it was so cute!

On Saturday, we had her party. She wanted a kitty cat theme, which was fun to put together. I got cat cookie cutters and used them to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and watermelon in the shape of cats for the kid's lunch. They also ate goldfish and Trader Joe's Cat Cookies. Lita made a cat cake for Lucca and the kids played Pin the Tail on the Cat (although Lucca opted out because she wanted someone else to win the prize, although I think she was just afraid she wasn't going to win!). I read them If You Give a Cat a Cupcake and then they did some activities to go along with the story. They all seemed to have a great time!

Here is Lucca in front of the Pin the Tail on the Cat poster. Lita did a great job on this!

Lucca's pink bath! She got bath color tablets for her birthday that turn the water different colors. At first she was afraid she would turn pink if she got in but once we told her she wouldn't she jumped right in and had a blast!

Siena got a new present, too! Here she is sporting her new shades for the summer!
