September

The month of September is flying by! We have been busy, busy, busy! Lucca has started soccer so she now has soccer practice on Wednesdays and games every Saturday, in addition to swim lessons on Tuesdays! We are taking a break from dance, but she will start back up in October. Her first soccer game was last weekend and she had a blast! At this age, they don't keep score and they don't even have a goalie. It is pretty much just getting acquainted with the game. That doesn't mean that the parents aren't keeping score in their heads, though! Lucca's team is made up of 9 girls who have never played soccer before and all of the other teams have returning players who played in the spring. You can imagine how the first game went. Luckily, the girls didn't seem to notice that the other team scored about 15 goals to their 1! :) They all had a blast! This week's game was a little better. I think they only "lost" by 2 points! Lucca assisted with 1 goal and almost had a second goal, but a girl was standing right in the goal box and blocked it (and they aren't supposed to have goalies..grrr!). Her team definitely scores points for cuteness, though! Almost all of the girls have pink soccer balls, pink shin guards, and pink cleats! Here are some pictures from her first soccer game...

The picture below is actually from today. It was picture day. I don't know if I was actually supposed to be taking pictures right behind the photographer, but oh well!

Siena is almost 6 months old! So hard to believe it has been almost half of a year since her arrival! She had her 5 month check up last week and she now weighs 15 lbs and is 26 1/4 inches. She is in the 90th percentile for height! We got the green light to start feeding her solids so she has been having rice cereal for dinner for the last week. At first she didn't seem to thrilled with it, but now she LOVES it! Her little mouth opens wide in anticipation and she gets frustrated if I don't get it in her mouth fast enough! This baby loves to eat! The doctor thinks that the extra calories will help her to sleep all the way through the night (she is still waking at 2 a.m.). Last night she slept from 8:00 until 5:00 a.m., which is her longest stretch! We will see if it was just a fluke!
Here are some pictures of her first solid experience....

Ready to eat!

First bite!

What in the heck was that?!

I think I like this!

More pictures of the girls from September...

Lucca has become quite the little birdwatcher! Notice her homemade binoculars and bird book.

This picture shows our little birdwatcher at work. She didn't know we were taking pictures! She had to have a "birdwatcher" hat so she borrowed one from Siena.

Mmm...the bath tastes good!

Lucca and her caterpillars last week...
and the one remaining caterpillar (much larger) plus 4 chrysalis today!

I'm almost crawling!
