The Story of Haiti

Although Lucca amazes me on a daily basis, today she really knocked my socks off! She spent almost an hour working quietly on a "special project" at her table while I was on the computer. She was working so quietly and intently that I wondered what she was doing. I didn't want to disturb her work and knew I would find out when she was done. Wow! Was I ever impressed!
Lucca had an all-school mixer today and they spent the day learning about Haiti and the earthquake. They did lots of Haitian activities. She decided to write a book called The Story of Haiti. To describe it wouldn't do it justice, so I am including photos of it along with the text (in "grown-up" spelling). I am so proud of my little girl and amazed that she is so insightful at 5 years old!The little girl on the cover is saying, "Oh no! An earthquake is coming!" And the ground is saying, "Shake, shake, shake."

The Story of Haiti
One day in Haiti there was a big earthquake. Some people have died from the earthquake but there was some people that survived from that earthquake. But they didn't have lots of things to survive so we live in different states so we send them money to help them get things to help them survive. Have you ever done that before? If you have you probably already know all of this before. But we really need to help every state that has an earthquake and people that need help in islands and states. We need to help anybody that needs help. We want to help them because we want them to survive and we want them to have food for them to eat and water for them to drink and we want them to have homes for them. We want for them to have a place to live and we want to help them because we want to survive in Haiti. We want everybody around the world to live. We want everybody to live, even people that we don't know. We want everybody that has a earthquake to live and survive so much that we even want people that we don't know to live bad. We all together can make the world change. We want to share the same world. We want to make the world a better place. We want to make the people live. We want to get the people food cuz we want to see and hear that the people have survives. The end of the story.
