Bodega Bay

Last weekend we went to Bodega Bay with Grandpa Bruce, Grandma Lissa, Auntie Brit, and her boyfriend Jash to celebrate Brit's 21st birthday and my 31st birthday (boy we are getting old!). It was Siena's first vacation, first long car ride, first visit to the ocean, and most importantly, first visit to a winery! We stopped at Sunce winery on the way to pick up our wine club shipments and do some tasting. She seemed to enjoy the experience just as much as Lucca does! Lucca enjoys our winery visits so much that she was disappointed on the way home when she realized we were just driving straight home and not stopping at a winery like we did on the way there!
We were a little nervous about the drive since Siena had never been on such a long car ride but she did amazing! We only had to stop once on the way there so that I could feed her and she slept the rest of the time. On the way back we got stopped for about 15 minutes in road construction so I fed her then and she slept the rest of the way, so we actually didn't really stop at all! It was wonderful!

We stayed in an amazing house on the golf course with ocean views. When we arrived on Friday the wind was awful! However, we woke up Saturday to the most perfect beach weather imaginable! We went down to the wharf and watched the seals, then packed up a picnic and headed for the beach! It was actually pretty hot down there and there wasn't much shade so we had to construct a make-shift shelter for Siena. Grandpa Bruce and Daddy went to work finding sticks and rocks to create the shelter. All that work and she was ready to get out of it almost immediately! We walked on the beach and were surprised to see hundreds of ladybugs on the sand! It was amazing! More surprising was the fact that Lucca was afraid of them! She didn't even want to walk on the sand barefoot because of the ladybugs! She is also frightened of the waves! Definitely NOT a beach babe, but we're working on it! She does like to play in the sand and collect shells, as long as she is a good distance from the water and the ladybugs! The funny thing is that later that day when we got home Grandpa Bruce found a snake in the driveway and brought Lucca down to see it and she LOVED it! She actually wanted him to catch it so we could bring it in the house! Granted it was a small snake, but still...afraid of ladybugs but not of snakes??? I can't figure her out!
We had a wonderful trip! Thank you Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Lissa!!
Lucca's favorite part of the trip was swimming in the hot tub with Grandpa Bruce on Sunday morning before we left!

What a nice vacation. That is awesome that Sienna did great in the car! Too funny about Lucca and the ladybugs and snake. She cracks me up. By the way - you look amazing! I love that picture of you on the beach.
