May

May has been a wonderful month. I have to say that it is my favorite month of the year. Not only is my birthday and Mother's Day in May, but there is the wonderful anticipation of summer in the air, not to mention warmer weather (although not so much this year!) and longer days (I LOVE it that it doesn't get dark until 8:30!!). We have been keeping busy as usual in May. Lucca has just finished her jazz/tap dance class and her recital will be on her birthday, June 5th. The girls just completed swim lessons. We will be taking the summer off and resuming in August. They both loved it! Siena became much more accustomed to the water, which was our main goal.We had a wonderful Mother's Day! Gabe and the girls got me a beautiful orchid plant and we made yummy Eggs Benedict for breakfast with my mom and Mike. Then, two days later, I celebrated my birthday! The highlight of the day was getting the call right before we left for dinner that Gabe got a 1st grade job at Lake School!! We are so excited that at least one of us will be working next year and Gabe is thrilled to be getting back into the classroom after a year off. Not that he didn't enjoy being Mr. Mom...he is just ready to teach again! We celebrated both my birthday and the good news with a wonderful dinner at the 5th Street Steakhouse!!The next weekend we celebrated Mike and my birthday with a BBQ up at my mom and Mike's House with Heather, Ricki, and Luciana. It is always fun to get the girls together for some fun cousin time!
How people can manage twins is beyond me!!!
Last weekend we had a BBQ at our friends the Borges' house with Keri, Lance, Adi, and Holden. The kids had a blast playing outside on the jump house, trampoline, sandbox, play house, and water table. We had a delicious dinner and good conversation! I love getting together with friends, especially when we can just let the kids run wild and enjoy themselves while we are doing the same!Another highlight of the month was that Siena has began walking! She is off to a slow start. She has been taking a few steps here and there for the last month and is just now starting to walk all the way across the room. She will stand up, walk a bit, then plop back down and crawl. It is like she still hasn't decided whether to take the plunge and become a full-fledged walker! The last couple of days, though, she has been walking a lot more so I think she is about fed up with the floor! She is at such a fun age, babbling all the time and getting into EVERYTHING! She loves to climb into the dishwasher when it is open, open up drawers and take all of the contents out, destroy things in Lucca's room, open up the screen door by herself and head out in the back yard, and climb in and out of chairs. She LOVES strawberries, yet makes a complete mess whenever she eats them (as you can see in the picture below) and she recently took a liking to Daddy's beer. She crawled over and picked up the empty bottle then started licking it. Now she points and whines whenever she sees a beer bottle. Uh-oh!
Lucca's last day of kindergarten was this last Thursday. It is bittersweet for me. I can hardly believe that she is going to be in 1st grade. It hardly seems possible for me that so much time has passed. Her class did an adorable musical called The Rock Opera. They were so cute! They had a play day at Wildwood Park and celebrated summer birthdays, then had a mini promotion on the last day. I took the day off on Wednesday to go with her on her play day at the park. Also on Thursday was my friend and carpool partner, Steve's retirement party at Canyon Oaks. Loni and I did a good old fashioned roast for him and we all had a blast!
