We have been very busy since school started (hence the late blog update). Lucca is thriving in first grade! She loves her class and her teacher. She is reading at a high second grade level, so it is a good thing she is in a 1/2 grade class. She is reading and writing with the second graders. Her academic abilities continue to impress Gabe and I. She has made many new friends, yet she still hangs out with some of her kindergarten friends who are in other classes. She has learned how to finger knit in class and is really enjoying it. The students are allowed to finger knit at the carpet during story time. She also learned how to knit with needles at Lita's house and she has a knitting project that she is currently working on.
Here is Lucca with Nana Pam and Grandpa's new puppy!Siena is doing much better during her two days a week at Parkside Daycare and Preschool. In the beginning she would scream when I left, which was obviously very hard for me. Luckily this has finally stopped and she seems to be very comfortable there. She is there on Thursdays and Fridays. On Mondays and Tuesdays she spends the day with Lito and Lita and on Wednesday she gets to hang out with Nana Pam. Lucky girl! She is now 19 months (wow!) and is really starting to become quite the talker. She repeats most everything that we say to her. Lucca is really enjoying teaching her how to talk and she is working on teaching her how to talk in sentences.
Lucca and Siena love to read together, watch cartoons together, eat breakfast together, and play chase. They get along so well! Lucca is an amazing big sister.
Lucca and I had one last cam pout in the backyard a few weeks ago. We figured that we had started our summer with one so we had to end it with one! Once again, we pitched the princess castle tent, made Smores on the grill, and slept outside. This time, we brought the DVD player into the tent and watched ET, which was the first time for Lucca! It was a really fun night! Siena joined us in the tent in the morning when she woke up.

Lucca is playing fall soccer once again. She has found her niche as a goalie! She loves to play goalie and is very good at it!
We went to the Taste of Chico in September with Grammie, Papa, Auntie Heather, Uncle Ricki, and Luciana. Lucca and Luciana were inseparable! So cute!
Last weekend we went to Apple Hill with Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Lissa. Daddy decided to stay home and watch football (bah humbug)! Sadly, I forgot my camera so can't share pictures from our fun day. We were a little nervous due to the forecast of rain, but we stayed one step ahead of both the crowds and the weather all day long! We were even able to enjoy a picnic lunch outside just minutes before the rain finally came!
