Lucca started first grade yesterday. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that she is now in school all day long! It seems like yesterday she was toddling around like Siena! The day before her first day we went to get a manicure and pedicure. She got beautiful flowers painted on her nails and toes! The morning of the first day of school Lucca got up all on her own at 6:30 and was already getting herself dressed when I went in to wake her up! I guess she was excited! :) Daddy made her special school bus pancakes and she got two new books about school as a little gift.
She had a GREAT first day! Her best friends from kindergarten aren't in her class, but she played with them at recess and ate lunch with them, and she already has made some new friends in her class. She was really excited to be able to eat lunch in the cafeteria! They had chicken nuggets, which she loved! She is excited about looking at the lunch menu and choosing the days that she wants to get lunch in the cafeteria and the days she wants to bring her lunch from home. Lucca's teacher's name is Kathy and she seems like an excellent teacher, but she is retiring in the middle of the year so we are a little bummed about that.
We took her out to dinner at Sierra Nevada to celebrate the first day! Yummy! I can hardly wait to see all of the amazing things that Lucca learns this year as a first grader. I am so proud of my baby girl!
